The development of SMART materials in recent years has opened up huge possibilities in numerous sectors. Their implementation in the agriculture, food and bioprocessing industries is still not very widespread, but some new applications are now starting to emerge.
Smart materials is allowing better management in the Agriculture, Food and Bioprocessing industries.
1. Lignocellulosic biomass (to prevent UV sun light, Smart Nurseries etc.)
2. Bio-based 3D printing (Ogganic labelling )
3. Hydrogels
Hydrogels are commonly used for controlled drug release systems; the same principle can be utilised for the controlled release of nutrients in agriculture with certain required modifications. The success of this control valve will also yield the better use of fertilizers in future.
4. Sensor: Smart Farming using IoT
5. Bio-Based Smart Materials for Food Packaging and Sensors (more)
